On Saturday March 23, young adults from UCONN joined us for Mass, lunch, and an afternoon of Easter candy making. The sound of laughter and the smell of melting chocolate drew a happy crowd to St. Joseph’s Hall, including Mother Provincial and Sister Robert who were visiting that weekend! Turns out that melting chocolate to make Easter candy is a great way to bond with new friends. Helping hands worked together to shape the chocolate into a variety of crosses, eggs, flowers, chicks, bunnies, and more. Creative touches included “painting” white chocolate into intricate designs within the molds, or creating chocolates filled with caramel, peanut butter or cashews. A delicious but sometimes messy business! All enjoyed a taste or two of the finished treats, and there were baskets of beautiful candies left over to sell at the front desk!
