Maggie Bucko, one of the young adults who comes to serve at our Home, told us that she is a professional ballerina and would love to dance for our Residents. An in-house performance was arranged—totally elegant and beautiful!—and next thing you know, Maggie’s new fan club of Residents showed up at the local theater to watch her dance in the Christmas performance there. Tickets had been given to us free of charge, but the ticket-takers at the entrance cheerfully gave up the count as so many Residents came through the line; it was clear that they were delighted to have us.
Inside the venue, our Residents were real socialites and immediately struck up an animated conversation with the young adults in the row in front of us—who turned out to be FOCUS missionaries (Fellowship of Catholic University Students)! This resulted in an eagerness on the part of the missionaries to bring their students to visit our Home, and plans are now in progress.
After the performance, Maggie came to greet us in the lobby, where a resident presented her with a floral bouquet on behalf of our entire retinue. We relished posing for photos with “our” star ballerina!
