The Jeanne Jugan Associates, the lay person arm of The Little Sisters of the Poor, attended their annual retreat this year at The Saint Anne Shrine in Sturbridge, MA on October 19, 2024.
This beautiful Fall Day began with the JJA, along with Sr. Frances and Sr. Mary Augustine, leaving from Enfield, CT at 8:30 a.m. The colorful foliage throughout the trip set the stage for Gods presence. We appreciated the private Mass said for our group by Reverand Luc Martel A.A. Our voices were rich with praise for Jesus as we sang relevant hymns. Receiving Our Lord by both species was a wonderful surprise.
After Mass we enjoyed a presentation by Mary Anderson who shared her experiences of her Pilgrimages to Lourdes and Fatima as well as the recent Eucharist Congress. Next was a delicious lunch followed by a video presentation about the life of Saint Jeanne Jugan via iconography.
The group again moved to the chapel for our private Adoration while singing the Divine Mercy Chaplet. The presence of God was palpable.
Afterwards we enjoyed desert we were able to spend our free time exploring the many special features of the Shrine. A Blessed time was had by all.
