A Sharing Feast

By March 26, 2024August 16th, 2024No Comments

A sweet feast of pastries and cakes was planned for the St. Joseph Table on March 19, following a Sicilian tradition to honor the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Spouse of the Virgin Mary and foster-father of Jesus! Word went out a bit late asking for volunteer bakers, but the response was abundant – after setting aside boxes of treats to share with our neighbors at Enfield Loaves and Fishes, there was still an overflowing table in St. Joseph Hall for our celebration!

The Feast began with the sharing of stories about St. Joseph’s intercession – even more abundant than the array of delicious zeppole, cannoli, biscotti, cakes and cookies we were about to enjoy! Hearts were lifted as the Little Sisters, Residents, and staff members shared their stories of St. Joseph’s response to requests placed before him. Whether the need was for funds, vocations, a much-needed volunteer, or shoes in just the right size, St. Joseph came through every time in the strong, quiet way of the Provider and Protector of the Holy Family.

After the celebration, a group of Residents went to extend our Sharing Table and the generosity of St. Joseph with neighbors and new friends at Enfield Loaves and Fishes and in the evening at the Warming Center.

Thank you to all who delivered such an abundance of baked goods to help make this a wonderful St. Joseph Feast Day!
